Moodbidri, 09 March 2016: The department of PG and UG Studies in Mass Communication and Journalism of Alva’s College here will be organizing a National level Symposium and Media Fest from Friday March 11 to Saturday March 12. The program will be held at Kuvempu hall of Alva’s Degree College. The theme of Media Buzz-2016 is `Investigative Journalism.’

Anantha Chinivar, eminent journalist from Bengaluru will inaugurate the function on Friday at 10.00am.

 

Dr M Mohan Alva, chairman, Alva’s Education Foundation® will be presiding the function.

 

The chief guest of the program will be Dr Waheeda Sultana, professor and chairperson, department of PG Studies and Research in Mass Communication and Journalism, Mangalore University.

 

The first day schedule include the session by Jitendra Kundeshwara, special correspondent of ‘Vishwavani,’ Mangaluru on the topic Perspectives, Trends and Practical Implications in Investigative journalism’. This will be followed by various competitions.

 

National symposium will be on the second day of the Media Buzz, which include the sessions by Vijayalakshmi Shibaruru, senior correspondent, Suvarna News 24X7, Bengaluru and   K Annamalai, Superintendent of Police, Udupi.

 

 

The valedictory function will be held on the same day at 3.00pm. The chief guests  for the valedictory function will be Ronald Anil Fernades, resident editor, Deccan Herald – English daily newspaper and president of Mangaluru Press Club and Ganesh Kamath, correspondent of Hosadigantha – Kannada daily newspaper and president, Moodbidri Press Club.

 

Vivek Alva, managing trustee, Alva’s Education Foundation will preside the valedictory function.

 

Media Fest

Media Buzz will be the best platform to explore the talents of students coming from various colleges. The competitions will be open for all Media students and students. The competitions include photography, VJ Hunt, live reporting, pagination, mad ad, mock press, product promotion, short film, documentary, Radio feature and quiz.

 

Conducting Media Buzz for students is to expand the boundaries of their knowledge through symposium and to gain more practical knowledge through competition.
