Bantwal: Tulu loosing its purity bcoz of cocktailing words - Swami Gurudevanand

Bantwal, 06 March 2016: The western culture and cocktailing words from other language are threatening the purity of Tulu language. Therefore, in order to preserve mother tongue Tulu, it has to be spoken widely in day-to-day living, said Swami Gurudevanand of Odiyoor mutt.
Swami Gurudevanand was speaking after inaugurating Bantwal taluk Tulu Ninadana programme that was organized by Tulu Koota Bantwal, in association with Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy at B C Road, here on Saturday March 5.
He urged the farmers fraternity in the coastal district to grow paddy at least in one field, in order sustain Tulu culture and create awareness among the new generation, because farming was the lifeline of erstwhile Tulunadu, urged Swami Gurudevanand.
Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy president M Janaki Brahmavar in her presidential address said that the Academy is striving to promote Tulu and preserve the distinct Tulunadu culture since the past 22 years of its existence. Meanwhile, the efforts are underway to introduce Tulu studies in the classes, said Janaki.
The town councillor Vasanti Chandappa, Bantwal Land Development Bank chairman Sudarshan Jain, ZP member Chandraprakash Shetty was the chief guests of the occasion.
Praveen B Satish Rao, Academy registrar Chandrahas Rai, member Professor Vedavati, Jayasheela, K T Vishwanat, D M Kulal was present.
Swami Gurudevanand released eighth edition of ‘Tuluve’ journal edited by B Tammayya on the same occasion.
Tulu Minadana convener D M Kulal delivered the introductory address. Bantwal Tulu Koota chairman A C Bhandary welcomed the gathering. The theatre artiste Manju Vittal proposed vote of thanks. H K Nayanadu compered the programme.
