Mangaluru: Poetry is universal language - Dr Perla

Mangaluru, 07 March 2016: Poetry is the universal language which the heart holds with nature and itself. Poetry, whose material is language, is perhaps the most human and least wordly of the arts, the one in which the end product remains closed to the thought that inspired it, said Dr Vasantkumar Perla, assistant station director of All India Radio (AIR), Mangaluru while inaugurating one day poetry workshop at SVS College auditorium.
The programme was organised by AIR in collaboration with S V S College, Bantwal and St Agnes College for Mangalore University college-level students.
Poetry is not only dream and vision, it is the skeleton architecture of our lives. It lays the foundations for a future of change, a bridge across our fears of what has never been before, said Dr Pandurang Nayak, principal of S V S College in his presidential address.
Dr Sampoornananda Balkur, head of departmetn of Kannada, St Agnes Ccollege explained how selection of subject and its management of poem in first seminar. Dr Nagaveni Manchi explained technical qualities of poem and its limitations.
Dr Sharabhendra Swamy, programme executive of AIR explained characterstic of poems and its arrangment.
Mangaluru University college level students were participated in this workshop and all are composed one new poem. Selected ten students recited their poems in after noon poets seminar.
‘Poetry is like search for ways of communication, it must be conducted with openness, flexibility and a constant readiness to listen,’ said Dr Dhananjaya Kumble in his presidential address during afternoon seminar.
