Mangaluru: Billawar Mahamandala, Mulky wins Billawar Int’l Cricket Trophy

Mangaluru, 01 March 2016: Billawar Mahamandala – Mulky bagged Billawar International Cricket Trophy during 2-day tournament held at Vijaya College grounds, Mulky here from Saturday February 27 to Sunday February 28. Billawa Sangha – Kuwait were the runner up.
Billawa Association-New Delhi president Jayaram Banan presented the cash award of Rs 2 lac, trophy and citation letter to Billawar Mahamandala and cash award of Rs 1 lac, trophy and citation letter to Billawa Sangha – Kuwait.
Arjun Poojary of Billawa Mahamandala adjudged best bowler and all rounder, while Shailesh Suvarna of Billawa Sangha – Kuwait adjudged best batsman.
Akhila Bharata Billawar Union president Navinchandra D Suvarna, Billawa Jagruti Balaga Mumbai® founder president Sooru C Karkera, president N T Poojary, Billawar Association Mumbai® president Nityanand D Kotian, Billawas Dubai president Satish Poojary, Guru Seva Samiti and Billawas Bahrain president Rajkumar, Oman Billawas – Muscat president S K Poojary, Billawa Sangha – Kuwait president Raghu Poojary, Gujarat Billawa Sangha president Dayanand Bontra, Billawar Association – Bengaluru president M Vedakumar, Bharat Co-operative Bank (Mumbai) Limited deputy general manager Mohandas Hejamady, Yuvavahini Kendra Samiti – Mangaluru president Santosh Kumar, Narayana Guru Yuva Vedike – Mangaluru president Lohit Kumar, Billawar Parishat – Udupi president Deepak Yermal, Akhila Bharata Billawa Yekikirana Samiti – Mangaluru president Ravi Poojary Chilimbi and L V Amin Mumbai were present at the dais.
Billawa veteran leaders Jaya C Suvarna, Sooru C Karkera and Navinchandra D Suvarna were felicitated on the same occasion.
The tournament was an attempt to bring different fractions of Billawa community under one roof. The event indeed was successful in fostering the bond among the community in India and overseas. Sixteen teams created history by participating in the first ever tournament in homeland.
Karnataka Cricket Association member Manohar Amin, Criket Academy member Udaya Kumar Katpady, athletes Kavita R Poojary and Chaitra B Sanil, international athlete Nitin Mulky were felicitated on the same occasion.
Vijaya College principal Shamina G Alva, cricket umpires Ronald Pinto, Ibrahim Udupi, Suleiman Katpady, Rajesh Mulky, Aslam Karnad, tournament organizer Srinivas R Karkera and Nilesh Poojary Palimar of Billawar Association Mumbai®, Seva Dal commandant Ganesh K Poojary and others were honored during the programe.
The sports Committee convener Bipin Prasad, Surendra A Poojary and Harish G Amin were also present.
Shiva Narayan Aithal and Arvind Manipal were the commentators at the tourney.
Vinaya Kumar rendered the prayers. Billawa sports Committee president Rajashekar R Kotian Mudarangady welcomed the gathering. The president M Chandrashekar Suvarna delivered the introductory address. The co-convener Narendra Kerekadu compered the programme. The general secretary Vijaya Kumar Kubevoor proposed vote of thanks.
