Mangaluru: Thinking is essential for progress - Fr Denzel Lobo

Mangaluru, 26 Feb 2016: Analyst – 2016, a national level inter-collegiate Fest was organized by the Alchemy Association of Post-graduation department for the UG and PG sciences of St Aloysius College (SAC), here. It was held on Thursday February 25 at the Eric Mathias auditorium. The inaugural session kicked-off at 9 am.
The program was inaugurated by Fr Denzil Lobo SJ, the Rector of St Aloysius Institution and Fr Swebert D’Silva SJ, principal of SAC who presided over the function.
In his chief guest address, Fr Denzil Lobo SJ, emphasized on the present education system and its short-comings. He also mentioned how we take things for granted and instead of putting our heart and soul into the task we only reap the benefit of others work. He then edged the students to take every step as a challenge so as to be successful. He stressed on the significance of imagination and questioning ability to enhance our caliber.
‘You require discipline along with a certain amount of dedication and determination,’ said Fr Swebert D’Silva SJ. In his presidential address he quoted an incident from Paulo Coelho’s ALCHEMIST and emphasized on inculcating discipline and determination in order to focus on our goals.
Analyst - 2016 consists of 4 different events like Shot Gun (Ice breaker), Face Off (Seminar), Say My Name (Video Juggling) and lastly, Gray Matter (Quiz). 14 under-graduate teams and 10 post-graduate teams from various colleges of Karnataka actively participated.
The staff convener John Deepak D’Souza, student co-ordinators Roshni Pereira and Jostin D’Souza were present on the dais during the inaugural session.
Dr Richard Gonzalves, head of department of chemistry PG studies welcomed the gathering.
