Mangaluru, 20 Apr 2016: DYFI extended support to agitating employees of Amazon who are working with them since 2 years at their office located at Mulihitlu, here and were laid off without valid reasons.
The agitating employees hurled slogans against their employer and demanded the assurances of minimum wages on Friday February 19.
Addressing the protesters, DYFI Dakshina Kannada district general secretary Santhosh Bajal said, ‘Amazon employed the employees on contract basis to exploit them for larger gains. Amazon hired the employees through an outsourcing company called Aikya, Although the first round of talks with the heads of Aikya did not heed any results. However, the talks were held with the heads of Amazon who arrived here on Friday February 19, and the protest was called off with the assurance of fulfilling their demands by Amazon.
