Bantwal: Love for mother tongue can sustain Tulu - Swami Gurudevanand

Bantwal, 17 Feb 2016: Tulu will be sustained if the children develop love for their mother tongue Tulu. It will have bright future provided its spoken widely, said Swami Gurudevanand of Odiyoor mutt.
Swami Gurudevanand was speaking after inaugurating Children’s Tulu Sahitya Sammelan – 2016, held on adoja Kayyara Kinhana Rai stage, Odiyoor mutt, near here on Tuesday February 16.
Swami Gurudevanand urged the union government to award classical status to Tulu and to take scientific survey on the impact of changing the course of Netravati River, the lifeline of Tulunadu.
Vijeta M Shetty Udupi, chairperson of Makkala Tulu Sahitya Sammelan, said, ‘Tulu has future when everyone has high regard for mother tongue Tulu. We should be committed to sustain Tulu and also love other languages. The parents have great responsibility in developing love for Tulu in their children,’ said Vijeta.
Sadhvi Mathanandamayee, entrepreneur Vamayya Shetty Mumbai, Tulu Sangh Borivali – Mumbai president Prakash Shetty Petemane, Tulukoota – Odiyoor president Malar Jayaram Rai, Gurudeva Seva Balaga – Mangaluru president Jayant J Kotian and Navyashree Urwa Mangaluru were present.
Makkala Tulu Sahitya Sammelan reception Committee convener Taranat Kottari welcomed the gathering. The chief convener Dr Vasant Kumar Perla delivered the introductory address. Gurudev School teacher Jayaprakash Shetty proposed vote of thanks. Vittal PU Colllege student Lata M Melanta compered the programme.
