Mangaluru: Hardworking students will always succeed in life - Kishore Alva

Mangaluru, 31 Jan 2016: St Aloysius College, here concluded its 3-day extravaganza at College premises on Saturday January 30 at 4.00pm.
The chief guest and the guests of honor for the valedictory of the Annual National level fests were Kishore Alva, executive director, project development and corporate affairs, UPCL and Vijay Shankar Rai, deputy general manager of Karnataka Bank and K Shashidhar, chief manager, Central Bank of India respectively.
Speaking on the occasion, Kishore Alva said that students were like good seeds that grow into good trees that always yield good fruit. He said, ‘Students must develop leadership qualities because a good student is a good citizen, a good citizen makes a good society and a good society will develop into a good nation.’ He encouraged students to enjoy college life and develop positive characteristics.
Vijay Shankar Rai divulged to the students that India has 60 million youth below the age of 25 all over the world and that nearly 70 percent of the population in the country is below the age of 40. He said that this youth will be the one to lead the country to the forefront as the huge youth population will result in great economic strength. He said, ‘Students who actively take part in extracurricular activities will take over a large portion of the society later in their life.’
The College principal Fr Swebert D’Silva SJ, in his valedictory address said that 3-day fests has many important lessons that one get to learn. He said, ‘If we are able to channel student strength and their energy in the proper manner, we can achieve wonders.’ He also said, ‘If we have a purpose in life we can live in harmony.’ He continued by saying that with a purpose, society can become a harmonious place to live in. He appreciated all the students for coming together and working for one cause to make it a grand success.
The glorious overall trophies of each individual fest were handed over to the respective winning colleges by the chief guest and guests of honor of the function.
The College vice principal of arts and BCA streams Dr Veronica Judith Carlo, Science stream vice principal Dr John Serra, vice principal and director of Students Council John Edward D’Silva, along with the staff and students co-ordinators of each individual fest and the Student’s Council office bearers were present on the dais.
Student’ Council vice president, Nichole D’Souza welcomed the gathering. The co-ordinator of the fest Professor Lawrence Pinto proposed the vote of thanks. Students Council speaker Rachel D’Souza compered the programme.
The valedictory marked the official end to the three-day fest that took place at the college premises and brought about a rainbow of emotions for the students organizing as well as participating in the same. Months of hard work, and frequent sleepless nights gave fruit with the success of this fest. This magnificent fest ended on a high note with the much loved Baila.
