Mangaluru: Aloysian Fest, 3-Day National Inter-Collegiate Fest inaugurated

Mangaluru, 29 Jan 2016: The Aloysian Fest, 3-day National level Inter-Collegiate Fest organized by St Aloysius college, here was inaugurated at College campus on Thursday January 28 morning.

 

K Eshwar, field general manager of Central Bank of India was the chief guest of the occasion. V Venkatesh, senior regional manager of Central Bank of India was the guest of honor.

 

 

Speaking on the occasion Eshwar said, ‘There is need not only for education of mind but also education of heart.’ He also said the quality of education imparted to the students. He also mentioned about the importance of the ‘six sigma perfection’ citing the example of the ‘Dhabbawalas’ of Mumbai who are emotionally driven to perfection. He also congratulated the college for providing the opportunity and platform for students to exhibit their talents.

 

The College principal Fr Swebert D’Silva SJ, in his introductory address spoke about the need for humanism, teamwork and communication among the students. He emphasized that the aim of the college is not to create ‘intellectual monsters’ but teach its students to be truly humane.

 

St Aloysius education institutions rector Fr Denzil Lobo SJ urged the students to prepare for challenges and not depend on mere luck. He then quoted Seneca, ‘Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity.’ He also stressed on advocating the four C’s; consciousness, compassion, commitment and competence.

 

The student council president Mohammed Hussein welcomed the gathering. The secretary Mohsin Siraj proposed vote of thanks. The joint secretary Caroline Rodrigues compered the programme.

 

The Aloysian Fest comprises of 8 different fest organized by the various streams namely Art-beat, Acme, Composite, Imprints, Spinout, Astitva, Aloysiad and Battle of Bands. Around 25 colleges are participating in the fest. The unveiling of the overall trophies for each fest was done by the dignitaries on the dais during the inaugural ceremony.

 

Aloysian Fest – 2016 co-ordinator Professor Lawrence Pinto and others were present on the dais. Central Bank of India is the key sponsor of the event and Karnataka Bank Limited is the co-sponsors.
