M’luru: St Aloysius College Annual Fest -2016 from Jan 28 to 30

Mangaluru, 25 Jan 2016: St Aloysius College will be organizing its Annual Fest - 2016 at College campus, here from Thursday January 28 to Saturday January 30.

 

The inauguration of the fests will be held at College campus here on Thursday at 9.00am.

 

K Eshwar, field general manager, Central Bank of India and V Venkatesh, senior regional manager, Central Bank of India will the chief guest and the guest of honor for the event respectively.

 

Fr Denzil Lobo SJ, Rector of St Aloysius Institutions will be presiding the function.

 

Fr Swebert D’Silva SJ, principal of St Aloysius College (Autonomous), Professor Lawrence Pinto, co-ordinator and Mohammed Hussain, president of Students’ Council of St Aloysius College will also be present for the inauguration.

 

The annual fest consists of seven consecutive fests of various streams of the college,namely Art-Beat (Arts), Imprints (Science), ACME (B Com), Spinout (BBM), Composite (IT Fest), Astitva (Cultural Fest) and Aloysiad (Sports Fest).

 

Art-Beat

Art-beat is a national level arts fest organized by the Faculty of Arts of St Aloysius College, with this year’s theme as ‘Avisa’- ocean of talents, scheduled to be held on January 28 and January 29. An exhibition will be held displaying artifacts and antiques related to the theme of the ocean. Participation expectation will be 20 colleges in an around the state. The fest will comprise of 16 such as Mock Parliament, Cooking relay, Photography, Creative writing, budgeting and Quiz conducted over the span of 2-days.

 

Imprints

‘Imprints’ is a national level science fest organized by the Faculty of Science of St. Aloysius College. The theme for imprints is ‘From Cellular to Stellar’ inspired by the works of late Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam the ‘Missile Man of India’. The exhibition is under the theme ‘Ignited minds’. The fest comprises of eleven events like ‘Viral Tech’, ‘Zoo Frenzy’,’Chakravyuvh’ and ‘Chaos’ designed for threefold development in intellectual, physical and social world. The fest will be held on January 28 and January 29 with participation expectation of around 25 colleges in and around the state.

 

ACME

ACME 2016 is a national level business fest organized by Department of Commerce of St. Aloysius College. Acme 2016 will be held on the 28th and 29th of January in the Arrupe Block of Commerce and Management. The theme chosen for Acme 2016 is ‘Optimism.’ Optimism means expecting the best possible outcome from any given situation.The events that will test the participants at the fest are ‘Business Quiz’, ‘Candor’, ‘Chamber of Commerce’, ‘Continental Drift’, ‘Diplomacy’, ‘Revolution’ and ‘The Network’. Participation expectation for the fest will be 20 colleges in and around the state.

 

Spin-Out 2k16

Spinout is a National level Management fest conducted by the Department of Business Management held at St Aloysius College which is conducted exclusively for under graduate students. Spinout is open for BBM/BBA and BCOM streams. The theme for the fest is ‘AXIOM’-The Dawn of Reasoning. AXIOM is a generally accepted proposition or principle sanctioned by experience. The fest will be held on 28th and 29th January 2016. The fest comprises of 7 events like ‘Best Manager’, ’Brand Ambassador’, ‘Corporate Quiz’ and ‘Marketing’. Participation expectation will be of 20 colleges in and around the state.

 

Composite 2k16

Composite 2k16 is a national level IT fest conducted by the Department of Computer Applications of St. Aloysius College. The fest will be held on 28th and 29th January 2016.the theme for Composite 2k16 is ‘Network of Brains’with the desire to sprout the minds of budding individuals in the field of Information Technology and to turn the smart coastal city of Mangaluru, into an IT hub. The fest comprises of 9 events namely ‘Last Man Standing’, the best IT manager, ‘Advert’, the Mad-Ads event, ‘CODEIT’, coding and debugging event, ‘Scavenging Path’, the Treasure Hunt Event, ‘Graphicon’, the Web Designing event, ‘Techipedia’, the IT quiz, ‘Imagino’, video editing, Info Extractor the paper presentation event and Armageddon the gaming event. Participation expectation is around 20 colleges in and around the state.

 

Astitva 2016

Astitva 2016 is a national level cultural fest for the students of all the streams, which will be held on 29th and 30th January 2016. The theme for Astitva is ‘A Cultural odyssey’ imbibing the essence of ‘Satrangi’- The seven colors. The fest comprises of 7 events like Folk Dance, Variety, Just-a-Minute and Mad-Ad. Participation expectation is 20 colleges in and around the state.

 

Aloysiad 2016

Aloysiad 2016 is a national level sports fest for all the streams. The fest will be held on 28th and 29thJanuary 2016. The events for the fest includes Hand Ball- Men, Throw ball-Women, Volley ball- Men/Women, Soft ball-Men, Chess, Table Tennis- Men/Women.

 

Battle of Bands

Battle of Bands is national level musical competition held on 30th January 2016 the theme for the competition in ‘Antara.’ Participation expectation is of 10 colleges in and around the state.

 

About the College

St Aloysius College (Autonomous), Mangalore has got an excellent grade of ‘A’ with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.62 in the third cycle of accreditation. In the earlier accreditation the college had ‘A’ Grade with a CGPA of 3.48. The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) team which visited the college in March 2015 has expressed high appreciation with regard to the infrastructure and the quality of education offered at St. Aloysius College. With such high accreditation the college has acquired the distinction of being one of the top five colleges in Karnataka.

 

Being in its existence of 135 years, St Aloysius College after becoming autonomous has achieved several distinctions including the recognition by UGC as a ‘College with Potential for Excellence.’ The Institution has 14000 students from primary to post graduate classes & research studies.  With the latest accreditation, the college will be one among the top 100 colleges of India out of a total number of 45000 colleges. The college was accredited as ‘A Grade’ in the first cycle of 2004 and again as ‘A’ Grade College with a CGPA of 3.48 in 2009 (Second Cycle).
