Mumbai: Narayana Guru Night School Alma Mater celebrates Golden Jubilee with colorful events

Mumbai, 24 Jan 2016: The golden jubilee celebration of Guru Narayana Alumni Association was held at Billawar Bhavan, Santacruz (East) here on Saturday January 23.
All India Billawa Federation president and Bharat Co-operative Bank (Mumbai) Limited chairman Jaya C Suvarna inaugurated the programme here on Saturday. Guru Narayana Alumni Association president T R Shetty presided the programme.
Billawar Association Mumbai® president Nityanand D Kotian and Hotel Owners Association Mumbai (AHAAR) president Adarsh Shetty were the chief guests of the occasion.
Krishna Palace Group of Hotels chairman Krishna Y Shetty, Mathrabhoomi Co-operative Credit Society Limited director Uma Krishna Shetty, Karnataka Sangh – Chembur former president Prabhakar T Bolar, Kannadiga Patrakartara Sangh Maharashtra president Chandrashekar Palettady, Bharat Co-operative Bank director Ashok M Kotian, Billawar Association Mumbai® youth wing president Nilesh Poojary Palimar, the school governing council chairman Bannanje Ravindra Amin, Devadiga Sangh Mumbai® Santosh N Devadiga were the guests of honor.
Speaking on the occasion, Jaya Suvarna said, ‘When I was leading Billawar Association Mumbai® in 1991, there was financial crunch of even spending Rs 10,000 for education. When we trusted in the philosophy of Narayana Guru for the betterment of mankind, can only be achieved by educating the poor and downtrodden; we are now spending over Rs 1 crore annually in this regard. It’s been spent on education of students regardless of caste, creed and faith. We are also running modern school in a remote village at Padubidri, Udupi district of Karnataka. We have been permitted by the government purely because we are running night school,’ said Jaya.
Nityanand Kotian said that the students of night school are indeed talented than day school, because they are self motivated. The past students of night school enjoyed strong bond among each other. He also conveyed best wishes for its future endeavors.
The students rendered the prayers. The golden jubilee celebration Committee president Suresh S Suvarna welcomed the gathering. Krishna Y Shetty unveiled the donation requisitions. Sanat Kumar Jain introduced the dignitaries. The School headmaster Ramachandrayya C, alma mater vice president and golden jubilee celebration Committee secretary Ravi A Bangera, alma mater treasurer Ramesh G Suvarna, R S Kotian, M R Hosakote, Jayant N Shetty, Vijay N Shetty, Dr Vani N Ucchilkar, Malati T Shetty, B Koosappa, Raghu Poojary, Anand K Poojary, Divakar N Shetty, Raviraj S Shetty honored the dignitaries with flower bouquets. The alma mater secretary Vasant N Suvarna compered the programme. Shivaram A Shetty proposed vote of thanks.
Lava – Kusha, Yakshakagana dance recital was presented by the artistes of Yaksha Mitra Balaga Mumbai, laughter session by Ashok Kodyadka group and the alma mater/students presented variety entertainment programmes on the occasion.
