Udupi: Prasad & Rajdeep reach 3rd round at FIDE Rates Chess Tourney

Udupi, 28 Dec 2015: The third round in the Dr TMA Pai Memorial FIDE Rated Chess tournament saw players warming up for exciting rounds ahead. In one of the Dr TMA Pai Halls here, Anand Vittal of Karnataka held International Master Devaki Prasad V of PSPB to a draw and reigning Under-17 national champion Rajdeep Sarkar also dropped half a point when he was held to a draw by Vishwanath Jeyaraman of Tamil Nadu. Both were with 2 and half points at the end of the third round.
The other International Masters had no problem against their rivals and won their encounters easily. IM Thejkumar MS, IM Stany GA, IM Girinath PDS, IM Ravi Hegde and 31 other players are leading with three points each on Sunday.
On top board, Top seed IM Thejkumar (2439) played Sicilian defence with Chirag Hirinja (1647) in the top board. Thejkumar checkmated his opponent in the 30th move. Second seed, IM Stany GA (2421) of Karnataka defeated Hari Suresh (1647) of Kerala in 39th move on second board. IM Devaki Prasad V opted Queens Indian defense with Anand Vittal of Karnataka on the 3rd board. The equal game ended in a draw the 56th move.
In the National B Chess for the Blind, being played in the other Dr TMA Pai Hall, 8 players are with three points each after three rounds. Darpani Inani of Gujarat, Balraman P of Kerala, Patil Shirish of Maharashtra, Makwana Shvin K of Gujarat, Aryan B Joshi Maharashtra, Yuddhajeet DE of West Bengal, Kishan Gangolli of Karnataka and Gaurav Gadodia of Maharashtra were with three points each after three rounds.
Deeptyajeet De of West Bengal and Swapanil Shah Maharashtra played a draw and are with two and half points after three rounds and the only other players with two and half points were Samant Milind of Maharashtra who drew with Naveen H J.
