Mumbai: Karnataka litterateur Jayant Kaikini qualifies for Guru Narayana Literary Award

Mumbai, 25 Dec 2015: Karnataka renowned litterateur Jayant Kaikini was chosen to award Guru Narayana Literary Award – 2015, by Billavar Association Mumbai®. The award is being sponsored by M B Kukyan, honorary editor of Akshaya, Kannada bulletin of Billavar Association.
The jury comprising the senior litterateurs V Ga Nayak and Dr Sunita Shetty had chosen Kaikini for the award that includes Rs 25,000 cash, citation letter and a memento.
Kaikini was chosen for the award that was earmarked for literary and cinema critics and readers views in this year for the distinguished in Mumbai and undivided Dakshina Kannada district of Karnataka.
Kaikini is a native of Gokarna in Uttara Kannada district of Karnataka. He worked as biochemist for 13 years in Mumbai and began freelancing in Bengaluru since 2000. He has authored several books; a few of them were sourced for movie making.
He is the first Indian author to get Kusumagraja National Literary Award from Nasim Open University during 2010. He also received honorary doctorate from Tumkur University in 2011. He got twice Filmfare Award for top composer.
The award will be conferred on Kaikini during the function scheduled to be held at Billava Bhavan, Santacruz (East) here on January 17 2016.
V Ga Nayak and Dr Sunita Shetty will present the award to Kaikini.
The senior litterateur M B Kukyan will be present on the occasion.
All India Billava Federation chairman Jaya C Suvarna will inaugurate the programme. Billavar Association president Nityanand D kotian will preside the function.
