Udupi: United Shirva wins K L Sharma Cricket Trophy; Netaji Parkala runner up

Udupi, 20 Dec 2015: United Shirva cricket team captained by Bantakal Madhav Kamat won K L Sharma Trophy – 2015, by defeating Netaji team of Parkala, here on Saturday December 19. The cricket tournament was was organized by Hindu PU College alumni Association as memorial of the late K L Sharma, veteran freedom fighter, Ghandhian and Hindi teacher of Hindu PU College, Shirva, near here who passed away recently.
Suresh Bhandary, managing trustee Nageshwara temple, Kucchoor, near here presented the trophy and cash award of Rs 55,555 to United Shirva during the valedictory function held on Saturday evening. The runner up team – Netaji of Parkala was presented with trophy and cash award of Rs 33,333.
Hindu PU College alumni Assocition – Mumbai Committee convener Khandesh Bhaskar Shetty presided the programme.
Mumbai Committee president Kishore Kumar Shetty Kutyar, MSRS College principal Professor Vinobhanat, Vijaya Bank – Shirva manager Melvyn P Sequeira, Mumbai entrepreneur Sooda Karunakar Shetty, Dubai Committee convener Kodu Divakar Shetty, Association president Sorkala Sacchidanand hedge, physical education director Surendra Shetty, retired Professor Rajgopal, Jagdish Aras, Ravi Poojary Mumbai, Hindu PU College lecturer Sundar Mera were present at the dais.
The state and national cricket umpires Vijay Alva, Rolin Pinto and Y S Rao were felicitated on the same occasion along with cricket pitch layer Ramanna Maistry.
Kutyar Prasad Shetty compered the programme. Cricket coach Lingappa B assisted in the tourney. Roopesh Acharya and Prashant Shetty were the commentators of the tourney.
