Mangaluru, 15 Dec 2015: India stands as a unique nation in the world, because of unity in diversity. Meanwhile, the mother tongue sustains by mutual respect to each others language and culture, said Dr Chinnappa Gowda, vice-chancellor of Karnataka Janapad University.
Dr Chinnappa was speaking during the valedictory function of screening Beary documentary, poetry release and distribution of uniform and Daf musical instruments to 40 groups from all over Karnataka, held at Town Hall, here on Sunday December 13 afternoon. It was organized by Karnataka Beary Sahitya Academy.
The Academy president B A Mohammed Hanif presided the programme. The Kannada/Tulu scholar Dr Vivek Rai offered motion for the documentary on Beary culture.
Dr Chinnappa released Beary poetry book, Nalmale, authored by multi-lingual poet Basheer Ahmed Kinya. B A Mohammed Ali read the foreword.
Bharatiya Krushika Samaj president Hyder Partippady, Islamic Cultural Centre general secretary B M Mumtaz Ali, Central Beary Sahitya Parishat president D M Aslam, UNICEF president Rafiuddin Kudroli were the chief guests of the occasion.
The Academy member Abdul Hameed Goltamajalu compered the programme. Zohara Abbas proposed vote of thanks. Academy members Badruddin K Mani, Hameed Padubidri, Ayesha Perla, Yusuf Waktar, Abbas Kirugunda, Mohammed Zachariah, Abdul Latif Neralakatte, T A Aliabba Jokatte and Mohammed Sharif Nirmunje, former member Khalid Ujire and others were present.
