Mangaluru: Bollywood singer Hema Sardesai presents 7th Global Konkani Music Awards

Mangaluru, 14 Dec 2015: World’s premier Konkani cultural organization, Mandd Sobhann, has been presenting the most prestigious Music Awards in Konkani – the Global Konkani Music Awards – to recognize, encourage and honor talent, so that Konkani Music may flourish globally, every year, since 2009.
The grand Ceremony of the 7th Global Konkani Music Awards was held at Kalaangann, here on Sunday December 13. Top-3 Nominees of all 6 categories were honored and the winners were declared and awarded with Rs 25,000 each, a bouquet, title and a trophy. The winners are:
1. Best Singer Female-2014: Archana Khandeparkar for the song ‘Ghazal’ from the Album ‘Ottam Vo’ilim Gitam’.
2. Best Singer Male-2014: K. Nithin for the song ‘So’pnnelam’ from the Album ‘Yaad’.
3. Best Music Composer-2014: Roshan D’Souza Angelore for the song ‘So’pnnelam’ from the Album ‘Yaad’.
4. Best Lyricist-2014: Wilson Sequeira for the song ‘Thembe Thembe Pavsa’ from the Album ‘Poilo Moag’
5. Best Music Arranger-2014: Cajetan Dias for the song ‘Devak Shimplem’ from Album ‘Hello Deva’
6. Best Music Album-2014: Anitha D’Souza, Bela (Mother Mary Creations) for the Album ‘Yaad’.
The Chief Guest, internationally acclaimed Queen of Indipop and bollywood singer, Hema Sardesai presented the Awards to the winners. She praised the organizers for the way the Ceremony was organized. She was happy to be a part of the Ceremony and said that every aspect of it was beautiful – the music, the dance, the audience, the ambience and all the arrangements. She congratulated the winners and applauded Mandd Sobhann for its efforts in keeping Konkani alive. She also requested everyone to buy original CDs and encourage artistes. She saluted Mandd Sobhann for the respect it gave artistes. The audience was captured by Hema’s melodious voice, with the rendition of ‘Ku ku ru ku kuku’, ‘Dama Dam Mast Kalandar’ and ‘Undra Mhojya Mama’.
‘Fado’ Queen Sonia Shirsat from Goa, entertained the audience with her melodious singing, by presenting a ‘fado’ song, a Mangalorean Konkani number and 3 Goan songs.
Nach Sobhann presented dances on various Konkani numbers and Sumell the Konkani Singing Club of Mandd Sobhann presented 2 group songs on the occasion. The judges, sponsors and all those who worked for the success of the programme were honoured on this occasion.
Soad-4 ‘Ranni Kogull’ Jacqueline Fernandes and Mandd Sobhann Vice-President Arun Raj Rodrigues compered the programme.
