Workshop on participation of villagers in Gama Panchayat held in Moodubelle

Udupi, 06 Dec 2015: The Catholic Sabha, Moodubelle Unit and Commission for Laity conducted a workshop in the involvement of villagers in Grama Panchayat and  the availability of government facilities on Sunday, 6 December 2015 at 10.30 am in the Parish Hall. Mr. Lawrence D’Sa, member of Udyavar Grama Panchayat was the resource person of the wokshop.

 

The workshop was inaugurated by Rev, Fr, Clement Mascarenhas, Parish Priest of Moodubelle along with the dignitaries on the dais including  Lawrence D’Sa, Alphonse  Alva, Vice President of Parish Pastoral Council, Mrs. Latha D’Mello, Secretary, Mrs. Gladys Rebello, President of Catholic Sabha and Commission for Laity, Moodubelle Unit and Wilma Rodrigues, Secretary of Catholic Sabha.

 

In his brief message, Rev. Fr. Clement Mascarenhas wished well to the workshop and stressed on the importance of such awareness building activities.

 

 

Mrs. Latha D’Mello introduced the resource person, Lawrence D’Sa, who has been serving the Udyavar Grama Panchayt since 30 years. Twice he was the Vice President of the Grama Panchayat. Presently he is the Vice President of the Udyavar Parish Pastoral Council.

 

In his address, Lawrence D’Sa  emphasized on the importance of Ward and Grama Sabhas and pointed out why everyone should make it a point to attend these meetings.  He also listed various monetary facilities and subsidies that are available through the village panchayat to various sections of the community.

 

On this occasion, students of different age groups who had secured prizes in the parish level elocution completion organized by the Catholic Sabha, Moodubelle Unit was given trophies by Rev. Fr. Victor Fernandes(OFM Cap), Assistant Parish Priest. Consolation prizes were given away by Alphonse Alva.

 

Mrs. Gladys Rebello, President of the Catholic Sabha welcomed the guests and gathering, Charles Quadros proposed the vote of thanks and Mrs. Wilma Rodriguess compeered the programme.
