Mangaluru: Block Resources Center – City North celebrates World Disabled Day

Mangaluru, 06 Dec 2015: The office of block education officer, Mangaluru north, in association with block resources center and Rotary Club – Mangaluru north, special children’s Day was celebrated with varieties of programme at Pompeii Church auditorium, Urwa, here on Thursday December 3.
Mangaluru north block education officer Rajalaxmi after inaugurating the programme said, ‘specially-abled children does not need mere sympathy, they need opportunities.’
Urwa parish priest Fr Stany Pereira presided the programme. Rotary Club – Mangaluru north president Venugopal, DIET senior lecturer Dayavati were the chief guests of the occasion.
Mangaluru south MLA J R Lobo presided the valedictory function on Thursday evening.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Lobo appealed to the parents of specially-abled children to give better education to their children in order to bring them to mainstream of society like any normal child.
The prizes were distributed to the winners of sports and cultural competitions.
Rotary Club – Mangaluru north secretary Nayana Kumar Suvarna, Urwa parish priest Fr Stany Pereira, Lions Club member Deepak, Dr Caroline, Pompeii School headmaster Franklyn Hilary, Joy/Zaffa beverages proprietor Gopal Shetty, physical education officer Raghunat, B R P Prabha, Vasant Palan, Vijayalaxmi, Geetha, I E R T – Jyoti and Sasikala were present.
Menukadevi, I E R T welcomed the gathering. The block co-ordinating officer Peetambar K proposed vote of thanks. Physical education teacher Umesh and teacher Joan compered the programme.
