Moodbidri, 28 Nov 2015: The objects that the artist comes across daily become subject of his art. The painting should be realistic and nearest to life, need to attract the viewers, says artist Girish who is hailing from Byndoor in Kundapur taluk of Udupi district. His mother is the inspiration for his interest in painting. Twenty-seven-year-old Girish began scribbling etching that improvised into a full form of art and a means of living.
Girish began early interest in painting during childhood. However, live explosives to kill wild animal disabled his right hand and could not pursue painting despite continuous efforts. Meanwhile, he did not give up his struggle. He tried to paint in his left hand and excelled in art.
Ganesh and Sita Ganiga couple is the parents of Girish who is a Bachelor of Visual Arts. He is working as arts teacher at Sharada English Medium School, Basroor in Kundapur. He has the aspiration to train the new generation in art. His art works on white sheet of paper using pens are displayed as a main attraction at the art gallery in Alvas Nudisiri - 2015.
Girish was using water paint to create art and now graduated to acrylic. The financial difficulty posed as hindrance to crate art. ‘The art sphere has great opportunities but it does not sustain living. There has been no appointment of arts teacher in any of state-run schools since the past 10 years that shows the apathy of government towards securing the future of upcoming artists,’ says Girish.
Girish has organized solo exhibition of arts on several occasions and are well acknowledged by the art lovers. He has put up an exhibition of his art at the gallery in Alvas Nudisiri – 2015. His 40 art works of key importance are on display for the art lovers to buy and encourage him.
