Bengaluru: German House for Research & Innovation hosts Higher Edu & Research Fair

Bengaluru, 22 Nov 2015: German House for Research and Innovation, DWIH-New Delhi organized 2-day Higher Education and Research Fair at Christ University on November 21 to November 22. The event saw participation from 11 consortium members of DWIH-New Delhi which included leading German universities, research funding organizations and educational institutions. There were about 1000 students who participated at the Education fair.
These institutions set up info-stands at the event to disseminate necessary information and clarify doubts of Indian students, scientists or researchers who wish to pursue their careers in Germany. Other Parallel discussions highlighting the cooperative ties in the fields of Higher Education, Research, Skill Development and Economic Relations between the India and Germany were also on the agenda.
The event provided platform for Indian students to understand the academic opportunities that can be explored in Germany. The participants at the event included German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), German Research Foundation (DFG), Technische Universität Berlin (TUM), University of Gottingen etc. The two-day event aimed to capture the gist of Indo-German academic creativity expressed through scientific activities combined with ample first hand information on research and innovation in Germany. Along with this, a 9 day long photography exhibition themed, The theatre of Real life will also be hosted at Christ University from November 21 to November 29.
About German House for Research and Innovation - DWIH New Delhi
The DWIH New Delhi office was opened in October 2012 by the former president of the German Research Foundation (DFG), Professor Matthias Kleiner, the former State Secretary of the Federal Foreign Office, Emily Haber along with the then Secretary of the Indian department of science and technology, Dr T Ramasami. Created as one of the Federal Foreign Office’s strategic initiatives to internationalize science and research, DWIH New Delhi is a successful consortium of 15 German organizations comprising funding institutions, research centres and universities. The German House for Research and Innovation in New Delhi was set up with the aim of enhancing the outreach of the German science and research landscape in India and exploring opportunities to synergize and stimulate cooperation between the German and Indian scientific communities. It serves as a ‘one-stop shop’ for information on German science, research and innovation, targeting students, researchers, employment seekers, businesspeople and potential partner institutions in India.
