Mangaluru: No bundh on Friday, only protests, clarify VHP, BD
Mangaluru, 12 Nov 2015: With strong rumours making rounds that the Hindu outfits have called for a bundh on Friday, November 13, protesting against Tipu Jayanthi and death of a Vishwa Hindu Parishath Worker named Kuttappa in Madikeri, the Vishwa Hindu Parishath and the Bajrang Dal have clarified that there will be no bundh on Friday but there will be protests only.
VHP Leader Jagadish Shenava and Bajrang Dal leader Sharan Pumpwell in a press meet said that state -wide protests will be observed in all the districts and taluk centres on Friday, which will include protest rally from 11 to 12 noon and blocking of roads.
Holding government and its minority appeasement policies responsible for the present situation in the state, they said that due to the vote bank politics innocents like Kuttappa and Prashanth Poojary have lost their lives.
"The CM must hold moral responsibility and resign," they demanded.
No permission for public meet: DC
However, on the other hand, Deputy Commissioner A B Ibrahim held a high-level meet on Wednesday and clarified that no permission will be given to hold public meeting on Friday.
He further said that the permission given to certain meetings too will be withdrawn keeping law and order in mind.
While liquor sales has been prohibited for a day, the DC has sternly made it clear to all government employees to report to duty on Friday and if any leaves have been approved for Friday will stand cancelled.
Police commissioner S Murugan, superintendent of police S P Sharanappa, ADC Kumar, DCP Shantharaju, MCC commissioner Dr Gopalakrishna and others were present in the meeting.
