Kasargod: 1,050 children partake in colorful Kajulo Porob, Children’s Fest

Kasargod, 23 Oct 2015: Over 1,050 children from Class V to II PUC of 13 parishes under Kasargod deanery participated in a daylong colorful Kasargod Kajulo Porob, a children’s fest held at Bela Church campus on Thursday October 22. It was sponsored by Raknno -and Kajulo Konkani magazines and was organized by Kasargod deanery YCS in collaboration with Bela Church.
The colorful festival was inaugurated by the deanery vicar Fr Vincent D’Souza by bursting a huge bunch of colourful balloons. He gave a call to the children to be prayerful, creative, and obedient to the parents-elders and to become responsible users of modern media.
Fr Marcel Saldanha, Fr Naveen D’Souza, Fr Santhosh Menezes, Fr Daniel D’Souza, Fr Aloysius Santiago SDB, Fr Stanislaus D’Souza SAC, Fr Anil Joel D’Souza, Fr Victor D’Souza, Bela parish council vice president M S Thomas, secretary, Sr Florin Dominican, Raknno manager John Furtado and others were present.
Local coordinator of the festival Fr Denzil Lobo welcomed and YCS Kasargod deanery president Rohith Kishore D’Souza proposed vote of thanks.
The inauguration was preceded by a colourful procession in the festival campus.
Ranson Crasta from Bejai parish, Mangaluru inspired the children with acting and life skills. Roshan DSouza Kayyar animated the American Quiz in 3 groups. Ronald, Preetha, Shoba, Sr Helen, Sr Teena, Sr Mary, Sr Bindu and Sr Prescilla animated classwise entertaing games for the children.
After the lunch, there was a special musical magic show by Kumari Thejaswini, Class X student from Paivalike-Kasargod. The children of 13 parishes presented the special dance based entertainment.
The participating parishes presented a special competitive exhibition on the theme ‘Present children in the modern media.’ While Nasik band from Kaliyur, student band of St Mary’s School - Bela, a team of funny characters etc. added extra color to the festival nearly 50 animators, teachers and elders joined hands to organize the festival.
Fr Valerian Fernandes, the editor of sponsoring magazines was felicitated by the deanery vicar. He appealed to the children to be more creative and thanked the Kasaragod deanery YCS and Bela Church for organizing the festival.
Over 100 prizes were distributed to the winners of games, quiz and competitions. Romeo Rodrigues and Sr Reena UFS compered the daylong fest. Kasargod deanery YCS director Fr Francis Rodrigues proposed vote of thanks.
