Puttur: St Philomena College organizes Workshop on Quantum Mechanics & Applications

Puttur, 21 Oct 2015: St Philomena College, post graduate department of physics, here in association with Board of Research in Nuclear Sciences (BRNS), Karnataka Science and Technology Academy (KSTA), Karnataka State Council for Science and Technology (KSCST) organized UGC sponsored two-day National Workshop on Quantum Mechanics and Applications at College auditorium here from Tuesday October 20 to Wednesday October 21.
The inaugurator of the workshop Professor Dr M V Satyanarayana, IIT, Chennai in his keynote address said, ‘Quantum mathematics is very significant to study the basics of mathematics.’
The chief guest Dr K B Vijayakumar, chairman of department of studies in physics, Mangalore University in address said, ‘Most of the inventions and discoveries are based on Quantum Mechanics.’
Professor Dr Arvind of IISER, Mohali and Fr Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, chairperson of Centre for PG Studies and Research, St Philomena College were the guests of honor.
The College correspondent Fr Alfred J Pinto presided the function.
The students of I M Sc sang the prayer song. Dr E Deepak D’Silva, co-ordinator of PG Studies in Physics welcomed the gathering. Dr A P Radhakrishna, Head of department of physics proposed the vote of thanks. Samatha K compered the programme.
