Film director KSL Swamy passes away
Bengaluru, 20 Oct 2015: KSL Swamy, well-known film director, producer, actor and playback singer breathed his last on Tuesday after suffering from an illness.
It is said that he was not well from the past many days and was admitted to Columbia Hospital, Bengaluru. He died at about 2 am on Tuesday at the age of 77.
Kikkeri Shamanna Lakshminarasimha Swamy entered the film industry at an early age as an assistant to directors GV Iyer and MR Vittal. His films Gandhinagara (1968), Bhagya Jyothi (1975) and Malaya Marutha (1986) were successful. In 1989, his film Jamboo Savari won the National Film Award for Best Children’s Film at the 37th National Film Awards.
Swamy was also awarded the Padma Bhushan Dr B Saroja Devi National Award in 2013. He married BV Radha, a former actress.
Swamy’s mortal remains will be kept at Bayalu Ranga Mandira in the city between 12 pm and 6 pm on Tuesday for public homage.
