Entrepreneur Leo Rodrigues elected new president of KCO - Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi, 19 Oct 2015: Konkani Cultural Organization (KCO), a premier Konkani organization of Abu Dhabi held its 21st annual general meeting here on Friday October 16.

During the meeting, KCO’s founding president, veteran entrepreneur and energetic community leader Leo Rodrigues was elected as the new president for the year 2015 - 2016. Leo has been serving the association since its inception and was mainly responsible for the revival of KCO.  Leo is well known in Abu Dhabi for his philanthropic and social work among the Konkani speaking community in Abu Dhabi as well as in the UAE.  His versatile leadership will definitely add extra zeal among members. This is the 6th time Leo is being installed as the President of KCO.

During the same meeting, dynamic youth leaders Canute Kelarai and Amitha Costa were re-elected as general secretary and treasurer respectively for the forthcoming year.  Both are known to be dedicated members of the organization and will be ably supporting Leo in his responsibility.

Vivek Serrao (vice president), Claudia Lydia Lobo (joint secretary), Franklyn D’Cunha (auditor), Benette D’Mello (entertainment secretary), Sandya Vas (sports secretary), Valerian Fernandes (media co-ordinator), Dolphy Vas, Michael D’Silva and Gerald D’Mello (advisor).

 

The outgoing president Michael D’ Silva has thanked all the members for their support. He also urged them to extend the same support and co-operation to the new president.

 

Speaking on the occasion, Leo urged all members to work hard towards the set goals of KCO in helping the needy, especially people suffering from serious illnesses.

 

KCO has been growing in popularity year after year and has become well known both in the UAE, as well in India for their benevolent work in helping the needy and deserving students. They have initiated several scholarships through Samanvaya of Mangaluru and have been helping scores of people suffering with critical diseases. They are involved in various social, cultural and religious activities in Abu Dhabi.

 

The induction of Leo Rodrigues will add new vigour to the vibrant organization and bolster their efforts in working selflessly towards the downtrodden and needy people in the society, especially in Dakshina Kannada district.
