M’luru: Artists create masterpieces at art camp organized by Konkani Academy

Mangaluru, 15 Oct 2015: Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy organized arts camp as it believed art also contributes for the growth of language. The arts that are created during the camp will be printed in the calendars that are brought out by the Academy is noteworthy indeed, said the renowned artist Ganesh Somayaji.
Ganesh was the chief guest during the valedictory function of Konkani art camp that was organized by Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy at Kalaangann, here on Wednesday October 14. He also distributed the prizes to the winners of art competitions.
The Academy president Roy Castelino in his presidential address thanked the artists for joining hands with the Academy in educating Konkani art and contemporary living of Konkans through the arts. He further said that their arts will be utilized in Konkani calendar of 2016.

The Academy registrar Dr B Devdas Pai welcomed the gathering. The artist Wilson Kayyar proposed the vote of thanks. Vitori Karkal compered the programme.
The artists Veena Srinivas created the art saffron painting and Rangoli, Sapna Noronha created art of Christian weddings and potter, Vishwas M created the art of Siddi community dance and worship, Wilson D’Souza created art of Christmas games and tendu-leaves worship, Jeevan Salian created art of farming and Konkani’s 9 dance forms and Ravi Wagle created art of mason and fisherman.
