Mangaluru: Mandd Sobhann selects Christopher D’Souza Neenasam to confer 11th Kalakar Puraskar

Mangaluru, 13 Oct 2015: The core Committee of Mandd Sobhann, here selected Christopher D’Souza Neenasam to confer eleventh Kalakar Puraskar.
Christopher D’souza is a young Konkani theatre artiste and director, who has graduated from Neenasam and trains artistes and directs plays for Kalakul – the lone Konkani theatre repertory, promoted by Mandd Sobhann. He has been chosen to confer eleventh Kalakar Puraskar in recognition for his contribution in taking Konkani theatre to great heights.
Kalakar Puraskar is awarded to one deserving artiste of Karnataka origin, chosen from the field of folk-arts, theater, music, and Konkani performing arts.
The Award is instituted by Mandd Sobhann and is sponsored by Carvalho Ghorannem (family). The Award consist cash amount of Rs 25,000, a trophy and public honour.
The Awards Ceremony will be held at Kalaangann, Shaktinagar, here on Sunday November 1 at 6.00pm. The Ceremony will be followed by 167th Monthly Theatre Programme – ‘Sur-Tall-Mell...Sumell’, a choral singing presentation by Mandd Sobhann’s Singing Club – ‘Sumell.’
