Udupi: Tearful farewell to Austin Alva by a huge number of mourners at Pamboor Church

Udupi/Pamboor, 12 Oct 2015: A large number of mourners bid a tearful farewell to drowning victim Austine Alva and his body laid to rest at Holy Cross Church Pamboor Cemetery today evening at 4pm.

 

The funeral cortege left from Austin’s house at 3:45pm and mass was concelebrated by HE Bishop Gerald Isaac Lobo alongwith Rev. Fr. Clement Mascarenhas and Rev. Fr. Charles Saldanha accompanied by many guest priests.

 

After the mass prayers were offered by Bishop Gerald Lobo and blessed the body of Austine. His parents Nelson Alva, Anitha Alva and sister Alveera Alva were present at the funeral along with large number of relatives, friends, college/school students and well-wishers from all over the Udupi Diocese.

 

One of their close relative Mr. Vincent Alva offered condolences on behalf of all parishioners of Pamboor and neighbouring parishes. 

 

He also announced that the funeral mass for the another drowning victim Ashwin D’Souza will be held on 13th October 2015 (tomorrow) at 4pm.

MLC Ivan D’Souza offered condolences to bereaving family with a flower bouquet.

Rev. Fr. Charles Saldana in his homily consoled the bereaving family members. The funeral service was conducted by Rev. Fr. Edwin Saldanha.
