Mysuru: Carmelites of Pushpashram celebrates golden jubilee with Thanksgiving Mass

Mysuru, 29 Sep 2015: Pushpashram, the Institute of Philosophy and Religion, Naidu Nagar, here celebrated their golden jubilee on Sunday September 27.
The bishop Dr Thomas Vazapilly of Mysuru celebrated the Thanksgiving Mass here on Sunday at 10.00am. ‘O give thanks to the Lord,’ was the voice echoing from all religious and clergy gathered.
Thereafter, celebration continued with felicitation and cultural programme at the auditorium.
Fr Saverio Cannistra, the Superior General of the Discalced Carmelite Order was the guest of honor.
Fr Johannes Gorantla, the Definitor General and Fr Charles Serrao, the Provincial were present at the dais.
The students of Flos Carmeli School invoked the presence of God through prayer dance. Fr Alfred Menezes, the Rector, welcomed the gathering.
Later, a short video was presented which took everyone down the memory lane thus showing a glimpse of the growth of Pushpashrama from its humble beginnings.
The previous superiors who had slogged for its development were not forgotten but duly acknowledged and felicitated. Fr. Oswald Crasta introduced the dignitaries and they were felicitated. The seminarians presented the dance and entertained the guests.
There was a special acknowledgement of the service rendered by Fr Paul D’ Souza who served the institute for more than 25 years as a professor of philosophy.
The vote of thanks was delivered by Fr Ronald D’ Souza, the scholastics sang the Pushpashrama anthem, Fr Johannes prayed grace before meals and thus the celebration concluded with the fellowship meal.
