Mangaluru, 19 Sep 2015: The public celebration of Ganeshotsav promotes communal harmony in the society, said MLC Srinivas Poojary.
Srinivas was speaking during the religious meet held on the occasion of public celebration of Ganeshotsav at Bunts Hostel, here on Thursday September 17. It was jointly organized by Siddivinayaka Pratistan and Ganeshotsav Committee.
Srinivas congratulated the Bunts community who once owned huge landholdings became landless owing Land Tribunal Act of 1970 in the undivided Dakshina Kannada district, but succeeded in carving out better futures by taking the adversity as a challenge.
The human rights Commission chairperson Kripa Amar Alva was the chief guest called on the gathering to teach human virtues to the children at the backdrop of disregard for such noble qualities.
The former MLA Rukmaya Poojary urged Bunts community who are known to possess leadership qualities in waging struggle in facing burning issues of undivided Dakshina Kannada district.
MLA J R Lobo congratulated the organizers of Ganeshotsav with discipline and religious fervor.
Canara Bank CEO Hardish Kumar Shetty, Lions district governor Kavita Shastry, Rotary district governor Dr Bharatesh A, Rajalaxmi Education Institutions chairman Rajesh Chowta, entrepreneur Siraj Ahmed were the chief guests of the occasion.
Ganeshotsav Committee president chartered accountant Shantaram Shetty, trustees Shedde Manjunat Bhandary, N Raviraj Shetty and others were present.
Siddivinayaka Pratistan managing trustee Ajit Kumar Rai Malady welcomed the gathering. Chandrahas Shetty Rangoli proposed vote of thanks. The joint treasurer B Shekar Shetty compered the programme.
