Udupi: District Fire Brigade holds mock drill at St Mary’s College, Shirva

Udupi, 12 Sep 2015: Lions Club International (LCI) – Shirva, near here organized mock drill by district fire brigade at St Mary’s College grounds, Shirva, on Friday September 11.

 

Over 3,500 students of St Mary’s PU College, St Mary’s College and Don Bosco PG Centre witnessed the live demonstration of fire fighters on mishaps caused by cooking gas at homes, and educated the students on perils of using mobile phones in busy petrol pumps and nearby high tension electricity cables and high intensity mobile towers, using mobile whilst plugged into charging etc.

 

The district chief fire officers Shivappa Gowda and 8 fire fighters held the mock drill at the occasion.

 

 

The College campus director Fr Anil Castelino inaugurated the programme here on Friday morning. St Mary’s education institutions correspondent Fr Stany Tauro presided the programme.

 

St Mary’s College principal Professor V N Rajan, St Mary’s PU College principal Irene Mendonca and LCI – Shirva treasurer Gregory Fernandes were present at the dais.   

 

LCI – Shirva president Wilson Rodrigues welcomed the gathering. The secretary Melvyn Aranha proposed vote of thanks. Creston D’Souza compered the programme.
