Sharjah: 12 World Kannada Cultural Convention from Nov 19 to 20

Sharjah, 11 Sep 2015: Karnataka Sangh – Sharja, UAE in collaboration with Hrudayavahini – Mangaluru, will be hosting 12th World Kannada Cultural Convention at Al Boom village, here from Thursday November 19 to Friday November 20.
The poets’ session, laughter session, media meet and overseas Kannadigas meet will be held during the convention.
Bharatanatyam, folk dances, dance recital, Yakshagana and other Karnataka cultural shows will be held on the occasion.
The overseas conventions were held in Abu Dhabi during 2004 and 2012, in Singapore during 2005 and 2010, in Bahrain during 2006 and 2011, in Kuwait during 2007, in Qatar during 2008, in Dubai during 2009, in Kenya during 2013 and in Canada during 2014; altogether 11 conventions.
The exhibition of books and Karnataka handicrafts will be held at the venue. The stalls will be put up on the basis of requirements. The entrepreneurs will have a scope to display their products, because there are over 10,000 Kannadigas live in Sharjah.
A reception Committee has been formed to oversee the arrangements and strive for the success of convention.
Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah, tourism minister R V Deshpande, Kannada and cultue minister Umashree, renowned entrepreneur B R Shetty, Mangaluru north MLA Moideen Bawa will be invited to attend the convention.
Karnataka urban minister Vinayakumar Sorake, social welfare minister H Anjaneya, Kannada Development Authority chairman Dr L Hanumantayya, former chairman Professor S G Siddaramayya, Mysore University vice chancellor Dr H Rangappa, will be invited to attend valedictory function of convention on November 20.
Over 100 cultural troupes from across Karnataka and India will participate in the convention.
Global Man 2015 Award will be presented to artistes, litterateurs, doctors, techies and social workers for their extraordinary contributions.
