Mangalore University felicitates Teachers on Teachers Day

Mangaluru, 08 Sep 2015: Mangalore University felicitated three distinguished teachers from Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Kodagu Districts on the occasion of Teachers day here on September 5.
Professor H P Khincha, former vice chancellor, Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belagavi and Professor department of electrical engineering, Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru inaugurated the Teachers’ day celebration and he was also felicitated by the vice-chancellor, Mangalore University.
Teachers are the role models for their students. A teacher should have a leadership quality that is able to build good values by contributing their knowledge, opined Professor H P Khincha.
Padma Bhushana Professor B M Hegde, former vice-chancellor, Manipal University (Udupi district) and M D Muthamma, former director of Collegiate Education, Bengaluru (Kodagu district) were honoured on the occasion. In the absence of Major Venkatramayya N, former director of Physical Education St Philomena College, Puttur (Dakshina Kannada) his relative Sri N P Rajagopalan received the honour.
Further the Annual Best Teacher award was bestowed on Professor Balakrishna Kalluraya, department of chemistry (science) and Professor Pakkerappa, department of MBA (commerce) on the occasion.
Professor K Byrappa, vice-chancellor, Mangalore University presided the programme. Professor P A Rego, finance officer was also present.
Professor P S Yadapadithaya, Registrar welcomed the gathering. Professor B Narayan, Registrar (Evaluation) proposed a vote of thanks. Professor Ravishankar Rao compered the programme.
