Udupi/M’Belle: Free Bi-cycles distributed to Eighth Standard students of St. Lawrence Kannada

Udupi, 07 Sep 2015: Under the Karnataka Government scheme to promote education among the economically disadvantaged students, free bi-cycles were distributed to 57 eighth standard students of St. Lawrence Kannada Medium High School on Monday, 7 September 2015 at 9.30 am.
Rev. Fr. Clement Mascarenhas-Correspondent of St. Lawrence Educational Institutions, Mrs. Ida Gibba D’Souza-member of the Udupi Zilla Panchayat, Devdas Hebbar-member of Udupi Taluk Panchayat, Mrs. Ranjani Hegde-President of Belle Grama Panchayat and A.G. D’Souza and Shivaji Suvarna-members of Belle Grama Panchayat, Mrs. Chandrakala BE-Principal of St. Lawrence PU College and Mrs. Leena D’Silva-Headmistress of St. Lawrence Kannada Medium High School were present.
On this occasion those students who had achieved success in the recently held Pratibha Karnaji and Girls Football and Volleyball teams and boys Volleyball team which had won tournaments at the Udupi Taluk level were honoured by handing over to them certificates and trophies.
As St. Lawrence Educational Institutions were set to celebrate the Teachers Day, the dignitaries offered floral tribute to India’s former President Sarvapalli Radhakrishna in whose memory the Teachers Day is being celebrated every year on 5 September.
The dignitaries formally handed over the bicycles to the eighth standard students who were present along with their parents.
