Puttur: Women Empowerment Cell inaugurated at St Philomena College

Puttur, 27 Aug 2015: Women Empowerment Cell of St Philomena College here was inaugurated during a function held at Silver Jubilee Memorial Hall here on Wednesday August 26.
The Chief Guest of the function, Shailaja Bhat, former ZP president in her keynote address said, ‘Women empowerment is very necessary to make the bright future of the family, society and country. Women need fresh and more capable environment so that they can take their own right decisions in every area whether for themselves, family, society or country. In order to make the country fully developed country, women empowerment is an essential tool to get the goal of development. There are many formulating strategies and initiating processes started by the government of India in order to bring women into the mainstream of development.’
The College principal Professor Leo Noronha, in his presidential address said, ‘The girl students of St Philomena College are law abiding, talented, disciplined and competent.’
He further said, ‘Women play several important roles in the society. Today she is not confined to four walls but she is shining in different walks of life.” Quoting the words of Victor Mark Hugo he said, “Men have sight but women have insight’, women are capable of looking at things in depth, analyzing it and interpreting it.’
The co-conveners of Women Empowerment Cell Suma and Harshitha were also present.
Sahana Rao and group rendered the prayer song. Venkateshwari, convener of Women Empowerment Cell welcomed the gathering. Shiksha Shetty, joint secretary of the Students’ Council proposed the vote of thanks. Fiona Mascarehnas compered the programme.
