Muscat: Jezu Maka Apoita Prayer Group, Ghala celebrate 13th anniversary with get-together

Muscat/ Oman, 22 Aug 2015: Jezu Maka Apoita Prayer Group of Holy Spirit Church, Ghala, Sultanate of Oman is a group of Konkani-speaking Catholics who get together in prayer, celebrated their 13th anniversary on Saturday August 15.
The get together was organized by the core Committee of this Prayer Group comprised president Hubert D’Souza, Lancy Barboza, Praveen Serra, Peter Fernandes, Thomas Dias, Leo Saldanha, Cynthia Saldanha, Cynthia D’Souza and Aslita D’Souza.
The celebration began with a prayer dance by baby Lizy Barboza. Hubert D’Souza welcomed the gathering and presented a floral bouquet to Ghala parish priest and spiritual director Fr Albert D’Silva.
On this occasion the Committee members along with the audience celebrated the birthday of Fr Albert D’Silva by cutting a cake. Fr Albert then delivered his message to the gathering. Cynthia Saldanha presented the report for the current year.
The tiny tots of the community presented a dance – Jezu Maka Apoita. The participants of this dance were Laura D’Sa, Clarita Saldanha, Larissa Saldanha, Nathan D’Souza, McNeil D’Souza, Ashvitha Cutinho accompanied by Lawrence Francis D’Souza who enacted the role of Jesus. It was choreographed by Meera Saldanha and assisted by Aslita D’Souza and Raveena Coutinho.
Praveen Serra and Peter Fernandes mesmerized the gathering with their rib-tickling jokes and mimicry. Solo dances were presented by Anisha D’Costa, Gloria Barboza and Lizy Barboza.
A skit that gave a message of helpfulness and timely prayers was presented by Peter Prakash Fernandes, Helen Sequiera, Cynthia Saldanha and Freeda Serra. It was written and directed by Peter Prakash Fernandes and the back stage commentary was done by Praveen Serra.
Lancy Barboza proposed the vote of thanks. It was followed by a game of Thumbola. The entire programme was compered very elegantly by young and talented youth, Joel Mendonca. A number of spot prizes were also presented to the winners.
A sumptuous traditional Mangalorean lunch was served by the members to conclude the celebration.
