Karkal: Aatidonji Koota enlivens joys of monsoon during bygone era at Pilarkana

Karkal, 09 Aug 2015: Our elders followed ancient traditions and customs for health and rejuvenation that were season. They maintained their dignity by different forms of worship despite poverty and play key role in cultural upbringing of their children. The traditions and customs foster community bond in the society, said senior teacher and journalist B Pundalika Marate.
Pundalika was speaking during Aatidonji Koota that was organized by Lions Club – Shirva Manchakal on the occasion of official visit of Lions Club International regional president Suresh Shetty and Lions family get-together held at the residence of Canute and Rekha Mathias couple, Pilarkana, near Belman, here on Friday August 7.
Pundalika offered info about Indian cultural hierarchy, splendor of Tulunadu culture and human relations. Lions Club – Shirva Manchakal president advocate Wilson Rodrigues presided the programme.
Lions regional president Suresh Shetty called on the gathering to organize social welfare activities in collaboration with voluntary and other organizations.
The professional photographer Wilson D’Souza Shirva was felicitated for winning national photography award.
Lions zonal secretary Dinesh Bangera, zonal president Domian R Noronha, new members Julian Rodrigues, veterinarian Dr Arun Hegde, Gregory Fernandes, host Canute and Rekha Mathias couple, Satish Shetty were present at the dais.
Irvin D’Souza, Norbert Mathias, Lawrence D’Souza introduced the dignitaries. The secretary Melvyn Aranha proposed vote of thanks. Lancy Corda compered the programme.
The variety delicacies of Aati were served to all on the occasion.
