Mangaluru: Melwin Kolalgiri chosen for Leo Rodrigues Family Kittall Yuva Puroskar 2015

Mangaluru, 11 Aug 2015: Melwin Mascharenas known with penname of Melwin, Kolalgiri has been chosen for Leo Rodrigues Family Kittall Yuva Puroskar 2015 for his writing. 

 

Melwin is known for his writing essays besides writing research articles, analytical writings, criticism, poems and skits. He is also known for his theatre activities. He is working as Lecturer in Psychology at St Ann’s Group of Institutions, Mulky, Mangalore. His columns Mathinth Lipullem in Kittall.com and Purpure in Uzwad fortnightly, official magazine of Diocese of Udupi are popular among Konkani readers. His Konkani articles were featured in Konkani Section of Vijaya Karnataka daily. He also writes for number of Konkani magazines and periodicals like Raknno, Arso, Uzwad, Naman Balok Jesu, and websites like kavitaa.com and Kittall.com

 

 

His Kannada writings have been published in Udayavani daily in Yuva Sampada and in the website panju.com. He has won prizes in Essay, Short Story, Poetry competitions held by Raknno, Naman Balok Jesu and Arso Fortnightly. 

 

The Kittall Youth award was started in 2012 and consists of purse of Rs 10,000/- and a memento and has been awarded to Fr Jo Cy  Siddakatte, OCD,  Wilma Bantwal and Stany Bela. The award is sponsored by NRI entrepreneur and Konkani Supporter Leo Rodrigues, Abudhabi.

 

 

Poet and thinker Titus Noronha headed the jury. The jury considered Melwin’s Konkani and Kannada writings and took into account the impact made by Melwin’s writing.

 

The award will be handed over on August 15th at the auditorium of Udupi Bishop’s House. The Director of Catholic Education Society of Udupi Diocese ( CESU ) and former Director of St. John’s Medical College and Hospital, Bangalore Rev Dr Lawrence C D’ Souza will hand over the award. The Promoter of  Bellevision Global Mr. Ronald Saby D’ Souza will be the  guest of honor.  

 

In the same programme Konkani Music Album “Tujem Rupnem” produced by 3 Souza’s, Marian D souza and Anil D souza of Pernal and Wilfred R D’ Souza, Pangala will be released.

 

Well-known compere and Lecturer Alwy Pernal will be compering the programme.
