Udupi: 5-member Yakshagana troupe stage shows at households during monsoon

Udupi, 07 Aug 2015: Yakshagana is woven within Tulunadu cultural hierarchy. It’s based on the different mythological episodes from Mahabharata and Ramayana, which was staged during the off season of farming in coastal district, in order to entertain, educate, instill human virtues of different roles of Holy Scriptures among the illiterate people in the bygone era. It has indeed contributed for righteous living.
Meanwhile, the children’s Yakshagana troupes are indeed contributing to sustain Yakshagana – heroic art of coastal district, at the modern times of internet, visual media, technological innovations, wherein the humanity leads chaotic living.
A five-member Yakshagana troupe is striving to promote Yakshagana by staging a few episodes of Holy Scriptures during this monsoon season. Yakshagana artistes of Durgaparameshwari temple, Rattady in Kundapur taluk are presenting shows in Shirva, near here since 10 days. The five-members comprised Raghavendra Shetty, B Raghavendra, Vishwanat Perdoor, Vishwanat Hosangady and Santosh Japti are taking the Yakshagana to the doorstep of people.
The troupe is presenting the Yakshagana episodes of Bheeshma Vijaya, Srinivasa Kalyana, Parijata, Rati Kalyana, Srirama Pattabisheka, Banashankari, Chakrachandika, Subhadra Kalyana, Kamsa Digvijaya, etc from 6.30pm to 10.30pm at different households on confirmed bookings.
