Man drowns after stepping into water to fetch coconut

 

Uppinangady, 05 Aug 2015: An agri worker who had reportedly stepped into a flowing water source to fetch a coconut at Bunder Neerakatte here drowned, after the water level went up as the water had overflown from a nearby dam.

 

The deceased is Umesh (35), a resident of Kadaba Alangar.

 

Umesh used to work in the property belonging to Sithram. On Tuesday evening, Umesh went around the farm to pick coconuts. However, when Umesh did not return till 6 pm, Seetharam went around the farm and found Umesh’s footwear and a coconut near the bank of the stream.

 

It is hence suspected that Umesh must have stepped into the flowing stream to fetch a coconut and must have drowned.

 

The dead body of Umesh was however recovered on Wednesday after diving experts Mohammed and Salim were called in for help.

 

A case has been registered.
