Beltangady: Vanamahotsav need to be everyday task - MLA Bangera

Beltangady, 04 Aug 2015: The planting saplings and nurturing it to grow as a tree should be everyday task for the nature to yield bountiful of crops and moderate rains, said MLA K Vasant Bangera.
 
MLA Vasant was speaking after inaugurating Beltangady-taluk level Vanamahotsav programme that was organized at the leadership of Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala Rural Development Project (SKDRDP), forest department and various social welfare/voluntary organizations at state-run school, Kanyady in Dharmasthala village, here on Tuesday August 4.  
 
MLA Vasant advised the students to plant at least 5 saplings in a year and nurture it for happiness, advised MLA Vasant.

 

 
Speaking on the occasion, Mangaluru sub division assistant conservator of forests A S Abbas said that natural calamites are occurring deforestation. The global warming also gives rise to diseases, said Abbas.
 
Abbas also announced the forest department will launch forest study tour for high school students. The students will be taken to forests to educate them on medicinal plants, trees, wild animals and birds, said Abbas.
 
Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari D Veerendra Heggade in his presidential address said, ‘The children are the future of our country, while it’s the responsibility of everyone to maintain the nature in good shape. The saplings should be planted and nurtured. SKDRDP encourages to plant saplings. They have plant the saplings in each ones name and taken the responsibility of nurturing it in the taluk,’ said Dr Veerendra.
 
Dr Veerendra further said, ‘Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala and its institutions are constructing building without using wood. The windows, door frames etc that are made out of reinforeced concrete are extensively used. SKDRDP planned to hold 3,000 programme in this year to conserve nature,’ said Dr Veerendra.
 
Dharmasthala gram panchayat president D Acchuta Poojary, SKDRDP CEO Dr L H Manjunat and project officer Roopa Jain was present.
