Mangaluru: Konkani Natak Sabha holds Inter-Parish Elocution Competition

Mangaluru, 03 Aug 2015: Konkani Natak Sabha® (KNS) here organized 48th Elocution Competition at Don Bosco Hall here on Sunday August 2. The competition was held in 4 categories – 5 years to 10 years, 10 to 15 years, 15 to 30 years and above 30 years.
In the 5 to 10 years category - 17 competitors from 11 parishes took part in the competition. In the women’s division, Delisha Miranda from Moodibidri parish bagged first place, Riyona Lasrado from Ashoknagar parish stood second place and Riya Fiona D’Souza from Ashoknagar parish third place. In men’s division, Lein Shawn Sequeira from Derebail parish bagged first place, Ethan Pinto from Cordel parish stood second place and Daniel Martin Ignatius from Rosario Cathedral parish third place.
In the 10 to 15 years category - 25 competitors from 12 parishes took part in the competition. In women’s division, Lisha Anne Pereira from Valencia parish bagged first place, Venciita Dias from Angelore parish stood second place and Nishel Flora Almeida from Cordel parish third place. In men’s division - Angelo Sucheth Noronha from Cordel parish bagged first place, Rahul Samuel Noronha from Bajpe parish stood second place and Melroy Mendonca from Kirem parish third place.
In the 15 to 30 years, 16 competitors from 11 parishes took part in the competition. In the women’s division, Nishal Nivya Rodrigues from Ashoknagar parish bagged first place, Ancita Carol D’Souza from Cordel parish stood second place and Preema D’Souza from Derebail parish secured third place. In men’s division, Loyston Fernandes from Milagres parish bagged first place, Mervin Lobo from Gurpur parish stood second place and Vernon Crasta from Cordel parish third place.
In the above 30 years - 18 competitors from 12 parishes took part in the competition. In women’s division, Chris Evert D’Souza from Cordel parish bagged first place, Edna Noronha from Cordel parish stood second place and Meena Pinto of Bajjody parish third place. In men’s category Roshan Lasrado from Paldane parish bagged first place, Jacob D’Souza from Bantwal parish stood second place and Cyril Fernandes of Paldane parish third place.
Marcel D’Souza, Flora Castelino and Felcy Lobo were the jurors of the competitions.
KNS president Fr Peter Cyprian D’Souza welcomed the gathering. Dolphy Saldanha compered, while Convenor Joseph Nazareth introduced the jurors. The general secretary Sunil Menezes proposed vote of thanks. Convener Anil Lobo announced the results.
