Udupi: Manipal University condoles death of Dr Kalam

Udupi, 28 Jul 2015: Manipal University on Tuesday July 28 mourned the death of People’s President, Dr A P J Abdul Kalam who died in Shillong on Monday July 27.
Classes were suspended as a mark of respect for the former President. A condolence meeting was held in the Senate Hall of the Manipal Edu building.
Manipal University pro chancellor Dr H S Ballal, vice chancellor Dr H Vinod Bhat and registrar Dr G K Prabhu, heads of institutions and the officials of the University were present.
After a two-minute silence, Dr Ballal briefly spoke about Dr Kalam’s visits to the University in 2003 and 2014.
‘India has lost a gem of a person, who had a dream for the country -- dream to see India a developed nation by 2020 through an action plan which he advocated strongly,’ said Dr Ballal.
