Udupi, 19 Jul 2015: Vishwesha Tirtha Swami of Pejawar Mutt said on Saturday that he would discuss with the other seers of Ashta Mutts the suggestions to change the venue of the Paryaya Durbar function and to change the route of Paryaya procession and take a decision. He was speaking at a preparatory meeting for the next Paryaya festival here.

Vishwesha Tirtha will be ascending the Paryaya Peetha at the 800-year-old Sri Krishna Mutt/Temple here for a historic fifth time on January 18, 2016. The seer said that the government had allotted 40 acres of land at Pajaka Kshetra, the birthplace of exponent of Dwaita philosophy Sri Madhwacharya, about a decade and a half ago. He planned to construct a residential school and college, which would be provide free education during his next Paryaya.

Along with normal syllabus, the students would also be given religious training at this residential institution. In addition, a big cow shelter centre too would be built there. He had invited Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to attend the Paryaya festival next year, the seer said.

Earlier, D. Veerendra Heggade, Dharmadhikari of Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala, suggested that since the space at Rajangana would not be enough, the venue of the Paryaya Durbar function on January 18, 2016, could be shifted to the parking lot behind Rajangana. The vehicle parking facilities could be created at a distance of 1-2 km away from the Durbar venue.

Some vehicles could be designated to bring the vehicle owners and their families from the parking spaces to the venue. This would avoid congestion of roads. If the seer wished the volunteers to take up some social work, that too could be done, he said.

Raghavendra Acharya, member of the organising committee, said that the route of the Paryaya procession should be changed from Jodu Katte-Kolada Pete-Car Street to Jodu Katte-K.M. Road-Sankrit College Road-Car Street. This would avoid road congestion and more people could watch the procession. The Paryaya Durbar venue could be shifted to Kaniyur Mutt entrance, he said.

Vinay Kumar Sorake, Urban Development Minister, said that all government departments would coordinate for the success of Paryaya festival. He would seek grants from the State government for development of roads and other facilities during the festival, he said.

Vishwaprasanna Tirtha, junior seer of Pejawar Mutt, Abhayachandra Jain, Fisheries Minister, Shobha Karandlaje, MP, Pramod Madhwaraj, MLA, Kota Srinivas Poojary, Ganesh Karnik, MLCs, P. Yuvaraj, President of Udupi City Municipal Council, were present.
