Mumbai: Karnataka Janapad Parishat Maha unit presents Cultural Extravaganza in metro

Mumbai, 19 Jul 2015: ‘The folklore is the treasure that instils cultural upbringing, disciple living. The folk art has exemplified the bond of Guru and his disciples. Yakshagana of coastal Karnataka is a rich art that educates the viewers on different episodes of mythology. It’s our duty to promote folk art,’ said Karnataka state-owned MCA president L N Murti.
Murti was speaking after inaugurating cultural extravaganza – 2015, the distribution of scholarship and uniforms to students that was organized Karnataka Janapad Parishat Maharashtra unit in association with Karnataka Beary Sahitya Academy – Mangaluru, at Marata Mandir, Mulund (East) here on Thursday July 16.
Karnataka state Kannada Development Authority president Dr L Hanumantayya presided the programme. Karnataka legislative council deputy speaker Puttanna was the chief guest of the occasion.
Kannada Sahitya Parishat Dakshina Kannada district president S Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, Kannadiga Patrakartara Sangha Maharashtra(R) president Chandrashekar Palettady, Karnataka Janapad Parishat Kerala state unit president Keshav Prasad Nanihitlu, Kutpady Ramachandra M Ganiga Mulund, Ashok M Kotian, entrepreneur Sunil Pais, VPM Vidyalaya – Mulund principal Nirupama Jorapura were the guest of honour.
L N Murti inaugurated the programme by beating the traditional Yakshagan drum on the occasion. Sasidar Shetty, Tahsildar of Manjeshwar taluk of Kasargod district was felicitated on the same occasion.
The folk artistes of Kalabairaveshwar Sangha - Chitradurga present the dance of Kindara Jogi folk dance and Yakshagana artistes of Ajekar Balakrishna Balaga presented Yakshagan Taalamaddale of Sougandikaparahana – mythological episode as part of cultural programme.
Karnataka Janapad Parishat Maharashtra unit and Mulund Friends president Suresh Shetty Yeyyady welcomed the gathering. Dayasagar Chowta compered the programme.’
