Udupi: Manasa Special School motivates student Wilma Pereira to excel in World Special Olympics

Udupi, 19 Jul 2015: Manasa Special School, Pamboor, near here in association with Catholic Sabha organized a programme to convey best wishes to differently-abled student Wilma Pereira, who was chosen to represent India in World Special Olympics, at their School auditorium, here on Friday July 17.
Udupi diocesan Catholic Sabha director Fr Ferdinand Gonsalves was the chief guest said that Wilma has enhanced the reputation of Manasa Special School, by her relentless efforts and hard work to qualify for World Special Olympics. He hoped that Wilma brings laurels in her debut in Los Angeles.
Manasa Special School governing council treasurer Elroy Kiran Crasto said that the government has not recognized the achievement of specially-abled students in Olympics. It has dampened the spirits of both students and their parent. Hope the government takes note of Wilma’s achievement.
Manasa Special School authorities handed over special kit that is essential for Wilma to compete in Olympics on the same occasion.
Moodubelle gram panchayat president Rajani Hegde, Manasa Special School governing council president Henry Menezes, Catholic Sabha Udupi Pradesh president William Machado, administrator Joseph Noronha, ZP former president Remedia D’Souza were present.
The School principal Sr Thelma Lewis welcomed the gathering. The hostel warden Vasanti proposed vote of thanks. Prema compered the programme.
Wilma is the daughter of Lawrence and Jacinta Pereira couple, parishioners of Permannur parish, Mangaluru diocese. Wilma will represent India in handball division in World Special Olympics that will be held at Los Angeles, USA from July 21 to August 5. She will leave to Los Angeles from Chennai International Airport on July 20.
