Mangaluru: City Airport customs seize foreign currency worth over Rs 6 lac from Dubai bound passenge

Mangaluru, 08 Jul 2015: The customs officers at Mangaluru International Airport here seized foreign currency of Saudi Arabian Riyals 9,000, Qatari Riyals 23,000, Omani Riyals 350, in various denominations, equivalent to Rs 6,13,068 from the passenger Mohammed Ali hailing from 19/151, N M House, Nellikunnu, Kasargod, Kerala during his departure from Mangaluru International Airport by Jet Airway flight number 9W532 to Dubai on Monday July 6 evening.
The said passenger attempted to smuggle abovementioned foreign currency out of India without valid money exchange documents and by concealing in his checked-in baggage.
Further investigation is under progress.
