Puttur: Orientation on Consumer Education held at St Philomena College

Puttur, 05 Jul 2015: Suraksha Consumer Forum of St Philomena College, here organized an orientation programme on consumer education in Spndana hall of the College on Saturday July 4.
Senior member of the Forum Durgarchana was the resource person. In her presentation, she said, ‘Securing marks is not the only objective of joining forums and associations in colleges. As a member of a forum everyone must acquire theoretical and practical knowledge, which will be useful in future life.’
The secretary of D K District Federation of Consumer Organizations’ Vishnu P Nayak was the chief guest.
Speaking on the occasion, Nayak said, ‘Consumer education enables individuals to develop the ability to become critical consumers. Through consumer education, consumers are equipped with knowledge, skills and understanding of the market. It also enables consumers to judge and make competent decisions about their financial transactions.’
The co-ordinator of extracurricular activities cell Professor Udaya K said, ‘Today, along with curricular activities, curricular and extracurricular activities are also play a predominant role in higher education.’
The treasurer of D K District Federation of Consumer Organizations’ Jayaprakash Rao was present on this occasion.
All the members of Suraksha Consumer Forum have participated in this orientation programme.
