CCB police arrest murder accused; pistol, live bullets seized
Mangaluru, 28 Jun 2015: A 34-year-old murder accused was arrested by the CCB police on charges of illegally carrying pistol and live bullets near Kulshekar Kaikamba post office on Saturday, June 27.
The arrested is Dayananda alias Raja (34), a resident of Kulshekar.
Acting on a tip-off, the police led by Inspector Valentine D’Souza arrested Dayananda, while his two accomplices managed to escape. A pistol, five live bullets and a mobile were seized phone from the accused.
Raja is an accused in the 2013 Prasanna Poojary murder case. Poojary, a bus driver was brutally assaulted by a group of seven at Paldane in Neermarga.
Dayananda and the seized items have been handed over to Kadri police for further probe.
The operation was conducted on the directions of Mangaluru City Police Commissioner S Murugan, under the guidance of DCP (law and order) KM Shantaraju and DCP (crime) Vishnuvardhan.
