Mangaluru: Kripa Alva becomes Chief of Child Rights Panel
Mangaluru, 27 Jun 2015: Kripa Alva has been appointed as Chairperson of the Karnataka State Commission for Protection of Child Rights by state government.
Alva will take over on July 1 as the incumbent H.R. Umesh Aradhya completes his term at the end of this month.
Kripa has earlier served as multiple council chairperson of Lions International and also as member of the Mangaluru Airport Authority’s advisory committee. In recognition of her service and achievements, the Cosmopolitan University, Missouri, USA, has conferred an honorary Doctorate on her.
But this move of government has been widely criticised by activists claiming that the state government has appointed a Congress member without any relevant experience to the post.
Sources claimed that sixteen persons, including several eminent child rights activists, had applied for the post.
Few activists claimed that state government had dishonoured the work of experts who had applied for the post.
Sources also revealed that since notification of her appointment, Krupa Alva has resigned from the Congress.
